Position at Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.

SEWS — Farmington Hills, Michigan Office.  Although located at SEWS – Farmington Hills Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work.  Associates are required to work at least four days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.   

JOB TITLE: Software Engineer I 

BASIC PURPOSE:

This position supports the North American OEM Business Unit by developing and maintaining the SBM system, implementing several engineering workflows and automation scripts. This role partners with internal and external teams to help ensure effective system performance and business process support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, modify, and maintain the Solutions Business Manager (SBM) system in use by SEWS NA OEM cross functional teams (CFTs).
  • Manage SBM Adhoc tickets through internal tracking system, review for feasibility, and work with the stakeholder(s) to prioritize for implementation.
  • Work with the CFTs to define new system requirements or workflows, coordinate meetings with appropriate SMEs, and implement.
  • Own the backend SBM environment, including code quality, system performance, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Develop working knowledge of the SBM front end and infrastructure and provide support for configuring user settings and permissions.
  • Develop system tests and test scenarios in the testing environment, and ensure all changes are reviewed and validated prior to releasing to production.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve any system or workflow issues.
  • Proactively identify system issues or inefficiencies, propose solutions, and execute testing for production release.
  • Support development of documentation and training for end users.
  • Act as liaison between SEWS and OpenText SBM provider to understand system capabilities and new features.                                                         

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in software engineering or equivalent degree, with 1-3 years related experience.
  • Experience with Solutions Business Manager (SBM) and JavaScript are preferred.
